Pregnancy Update

I saw my midwife today and things are great as usual. She gave me an A+ for my appointment. BP is perfect and all ordered tests are still coming back with flying colors. I've gained 10 pounds during the entire pregnancy so far and 6 of them have been in the last month, which was more than I expected. I was shocked when the weight kept sliding up on the scale. I wasn't really surprised since my tummy feels gigantic, but at the same time I've been eating really well and sticking to a great exercise schedule (Thanks Bryna!). My midwife (her name is MariMikel, I'll call her by name from now on) said that there are really two stretches in pregnancy where no matter what you do, your going to gain weight and I'm smack in it. That made me feel a little better. Most women gain about 8-10 lbs from month 5 to month 6, so I'm actually doing great!
The baby threw it's first fit today! As MaryMikel was palpating my tummy she felt the baby kick her hands back and then it started to completely move positions. Immediately after she starting listening to it's heartbeat. At first, she said it was about 160, but after a few seconds of settling down, it came down to about 148 (which is normal to what it has been so far). She said she definitely upset little baby Smith this morning. We may have a little Brent after all.
My next visit is on July 14th, when she will do my dreaded blood sugar test. I've never had to do any medical tests that require fasting, so I'm nervous for some reason. It's not like I've never fasted before... Just one of those weird things I guess. The appointment is a month away and I've already picked out what I want for breakfast afterward. I have to have something to look forward to besides a blood draw, right? So I'm counting down the days until I get to go to Magnolia Cafe! Splurging on Gingerbread pancakes is the perfect way to end any fast! Maybe not, but I'm treating myself to it anyway. Uh, I'm making myself hungry... Guess that means it's time to go.

Current Loves:
Sunshine! We have reached a consistent 100 degrees, and to my surprise, I'm loving it! The sun never felt so good on my skin before!
Greens. Forget the meat! Ok, maybe not all the time, but I've been experimenting with and ENJOYING greens lately. So far beet greens and Swiss Chard are my favorite, but I'm going to keep trying different recipes.

Love you all,
B&K
